Disability-Careers Office Timeline

Career development does not start when you send out your first resume. It is important as a student that you are involved in your Career Development from the beginning of your time here at the University of Tennessee. Look through this timeline to get an idea of what you might want to do each year to prepare for a successful transition to your career field after graduation.

It is each student's responsibility to:

  • Meet the essential qualifications and institutional standards
  • Disclose the disability in a timely manner to ODS
  • Provide appropriate documentation
  • Inform ODS of accommodation needs
  • Talk with professors about accommodations in the classroom, as needed
  • Inform ODS of barriers to a successful education
  • Maintain and return borrowed equipment
  • Keep all appointments with ODS staff members, or call to cancel or reschedule
  • Be involved in your academic planning and course selection, and monitor your progress toward graduation
