Present Job Title:
Star Director

Brief description of my job responsibilities, e.g. a typical week in my job:
Sell Southern Living and Oxmoor house products at home parties. Work with hostesses to schedule and plan home parties. Lead a team of Southern Living At Home consultants.

Suggestions I would give to undergraduate students with regard to courses, internships, and other means of preparation for my career field:
Initially I worked in healthcare as a clinical nutrition manager. The courses that I had prepared me well for that position. Looking back, additional management and marketing courses may have been helpful in both my healthcare and current career.

My career path in getting to this position:
Initially, I worked as a Food Service Manager before returning to school to complete my Masters in Nutrition and Dietetics. After graduation, I worked as a Clinical Dietitian (R.D.) and Clinical Nutrition Manager at a 650 bed hospital.

Other advice for students interested in gaining entry into and pursuing a career in this field:
After working for many years as a dietitian, I decided to stay at home with my children and work in consulting part-time. I then started working with Southern Living At Home. This job has afforded me the opportunity to have a very flexible career that I can work around my busy family schedule. I recommend contacting other professionals in the career that you are pursuing to find out about the flexibility of combining career and family. It is best to network with teachers, friends, families, associates, and professionals to find out what is available in your field. In my business, it is important to be self motivated and to love and believe in the products that you represent.
