Present Job Title:
Assistant Vice President - US Tax Compliance
Brief description of my job responsibilities, e.g. a typical week in my job:
I manage the US income tax compliance function for a
multinational service corporation. The department prepares
and files the corporation's and its subsidiaries' income
tax returns in all federal, state, and local jurisdictions.
Suggestions I would give to undergraduate students with regard to courses,
internships, and other means of preparation for my career field:
Be sure that any internship that you accept is both meaningful
and broad-based. By meaningful, I mean that you should seek
an experience that will actually provide worthwhile work
experience in your field of choice. Don't accept a low-level,
non-career-related job with a prestigious company just to
get your "foot in the door."
My career path in getting to this position:
Two and a half years in public accounting with a "Big 5"
firm. I left the firm to work at this company as a tax
senior. After two year, I was promoted to my current role.
