Present Job Title:
Principal Auditor
Brief description of my job responsibilities, e.g. a typical week in my job:
Currently our department is divided into five service lines; Shared Services, Process Reviews, Division
Audits, Information Technology Audits and Project Pinnacle. In my current capacity, I am assigned to
Project Pinnacle which is the company's ongoing ERP implementation process. However, I am seconded to
Shared Services, Process Reviews and Division Audits assisting in all three of those areas as the need
arises. So really, I dont have a typical work week. In addition, my job requires that I travel about 90%
of the year throughout North America and Europe. So there is quite a bit of travel involved.
Suggestions I would give to undergraduate students with regard to courses,
internships, and other means of preparation for my career field:
Participate in at least one internship to get an idea of what the job involves. Enroll in the "soft skill"
classes to assist in your preparation for the real world. Moreover, I would encourage everyone to sign up
for the "Mock Interviews" that Career Services offers. The critique assists in finetuning your
interviewing skills.
My career path in getting to this position:
I obtained a summer internship with Coca Cola Enterprises while in college and received an offer to
work with them when I graduated the following year. I came into the department as a Staff Auditor and
after three years and two promotions, I am currently a Principal Auditor.
Other advice for students interested in gaining entry into and pursuing a career
in this field:
Obtain at least one internship while in undergrad in order to supplement the knowledge that you gained in
the classroom. In addition, enroll in a public speaking class to fine-tune your presentation skills.
Perception is reality!
