Present Job Title:
Assistant Brand Manager
Brief description of my job responsibilities, e.g. a typical week in my job:
Brand management of Pringles. Business strategy and planning, copy
development, marketing strategy development, P&L, business analysis.
Suggestions I would give to undergraduate students with regard to courses,
internships, and other means of preparation for my career field:
Do not underestimate the value of statistics, computer programing, and collaboration skills. All
those "team projects" you had to do in class are very applicable in the business world. Plus, read
a business magazine/newspaper to stay on top of events and trends in the marketplace.
My career path in getting to this position:
Two internships with P&G -- one in the U.S. and one in England; one internship with Coca-Cola in
Atlanta in Public Relations/Publicity; internship with Dogwood Arts Festival; internship with
Northwestern Mutual Life.
Other advice for students interested in gaining entry into and pursuing a career
in this field:
Though your
communications skills may be strong, build your analytical/process management
skills as well.
