Present Job Title:

Brief description of my job responsibilities, e.g. a typical week in my job:
Under the leadership of and in cooperation with the chairman of the board provide leadership, direction and guidance of all trust company activities including the development of new trust business, and coordination of trust investment policies, to promote growth and profitability to assure short and long range profitability and planned growth of the trust company.

Suggestions I would give to undergraduate students with regard to courses, internships, and other means of preparation for my career field:
Have an interest in helping people solve their financial needs and problems. Have an interest in people in general. Finance and accounting classes are most helpful as well as classes in human behavior(psychology). Specific career training will or can be provided by the employer. Our company provides continued life long training for our employees-its beneficial for both the employee and the company.

My career path in getting to this position:
After a two year tour with the US Navy after graduation from college, my first job was with the American National Bank in Chattanooga, Tennessee as a management trainee, having been hired by one of their college recruiters attending a recruiting program arranged through the college recruiting program on campus. I spent two months there and then interviewed for a trust position as a portfolio manager(I had given them my desire to do this when I hired on). I got that job and spent 5 years doing that. My second job was job was with First National Bank and Trust Company in Athhens Tennessee as head of their Trust Department.I have been associated with them for 25 years until we merged with BankFirst and created BankFirst Trust Company.

Other advice for students interested in gaining entry into and pursuing a career in this field:
My career has been extremely interesting and personally enjoyable. I have enjoyed this profession and I would recommend it to any student who has an interest in it. It has been a rewarding experience- both career and monetarily for myself and my family.
