Present Job Title:
Field Account Representative
Brief description of my job responsibilities, e.g. a typical week in my job:
The Buntin Group is the largest full service advertising agency in Tennessee. Within the agency there is a division called Buntin
Out of Home. They manage outdoor advertising for clients such as Cracker Barrel, Olive Garden, TA Travel Centers, Red Lobster,
Wynham Hotels, and Ruby Tuesday. My position is a field account representative which means that one week a month I am out in the
field traveling to a certain portion of the country that I am responsible for. The rest of the month I am in the office managing
the outdoor from Nashville. I am a creative at heart and this is not my ultimate career goal by a long shot. But I am
learning a lot and gaining valuable experience working in an agency atmosphere. After I have put in time in this position
I will reevaluate my options and pursue a career in creative.
Suggestions I would give to undergraduate students with regard to courses,
internships, and other means of preparation for my career field:
Get as much real world experience as you can while you are still in college. Internships, student work, informational
interviews are all great ways to discover what it is you are passionate about.
My career path in getting to this position:
After graduation I relentlessly pursued every major advertising agency in Knoxville and Nashville until I was offered this position.
Other advice for students interested in gaining entry into and pursuing a career
in this field:
Be persistent! You will not find a job overnight, it will take months of hard work. In the end you will land a job, maybe not your
dream job, but a job nonetheless. Don't ever be complacent and don't feel like you are tied down to your first job, if you see
something you want, go for it.
