Job Information
Employer Name:
Clarity Works
Present Job Title:
PR
Brief description of my job responsibilities, e.g. a typical week in my job:
Public relations/marketing planning, strategy and implimentation for clients
Suggestions I would give to undergraduate students with regard to courses,
internships, and other means of preparation for my career field:
Public Relations students should take internships in every sector of public relations - nonprofit, agency and corporate-
to see which they like best. Be active in PRSSA for contacts with students and most importantly UT faculty and professionals.
My career path in getting to this position:
I took an internship with Scripps Networks as a media relations intern and moved to a parttime position in my last semester at UT to
replace the public relations manager for DIY-Do It Yourself Network while she was on maternity leave. I was referred to my current boss
by the VP of Corporate Communications at Scripps because of my work at Scripps and DIY.
Other advice for students interested in gaining entry into and pursuing a career
in this field:
Build relationships with your professors and professionals and put your heart and soul into your classwork! But be sure to give
considerable time to being well-rounded and personal development.
