Graduation Year:

Job Information
Employer Name:
Pratt & Whitney
Present Job Title:
Flight Clearance Engineer
Brief description of my job responsibilities, e.g. a typical week in my job:
I receive and review documentation required to validate changes to the F119 engine
for the F-22 Raptor fighter jet to ensure it is safe to fly. Once all new engineering
changes are validated, I write a summary letter to the Air Force stating that
the engines are safe to fly.
Suggestions I would give to undergraduate students with regard to courses,
internships, and other means of preparation for my career field:
I took Engineering Science as a major because of the high amount of technical
electives allowed. I used the tech electives to get an Aerospace Engineering
minor without taking any more classes than I would have needed for a major. It
allowed me to be qualified for an Aerospace Engineering job while keeping my
options open for a mechanical engineering job if the aero makert happened to be
tight.
My career path in getting to this position:
I interviewed on campus with Pratt. I was invited to an onsite interview later
and offered a job.
