Job Information
Employer Name:
Bransford Group, Inc
Present Job Title:
Vice President
Brief description of my job responsibilities, e.g. a typical week in my job:
Develop educational and training
materials for the dairy industry, working with regulations for the food and dairy industries, consulting with dairy companies
on regulatory issues. Development of web pages for product information and training materials
Suggestions I would give to undergraduate students with regard to courses,
internships, and other means of preparation for my career field:
Take a wide variety of courses beyond the science
of nutrition, including sociology, communications, marketing, consumer behavior, and food technology. Include some people
skills from human resource curriculum.
My career path in getting to this position:
Laboratory supervisor for a butter processing plant. Laboratory
services manager for a regional dairy cooperative. Quality Assurance Director for a regional dairy processor which also
oversaw the R&D, consumer relations and Regulatory affairs activities. Education and Technical Manager for a dairy
association. Self employed as a project specialist in training and technical development
Other advice for students interested in gaining entry into and pursuing a career
in this field:
A degree in nutrition can lead down many interesting paths. It opened the doors for me in my work
with food labeling, customer and consumer relations, and regulatory compliance. There are many opportunities available
outside of the traditional dietary fields, including research and development, the government, food companies, and even
journalist positions. A degree in nutrition will also help you in your own life!
