Present Job Title:
Office Administrator
Brief description of my job responsibilities, e.g. a typical week in my job:
I take care of all financial and accounting responsibilities at JA as well as
Human Resource processing.
Suggestions I would give to undergraduate students with regard to courses,
internships, and other means of preparation for my career field:
If you think you may want to go into a field of work that does not involve your
major, take classes that will help you in the field. I would also recommend
that you have a minor as well as your major.
My career path in getting to this position:
I started out working for JA part-time as an Education Assistant for the
Director. The position for Office Administrator became open and I wrote a
business proposal requesting that my President consider myself for the
position.
Other advice for students interested in gaining entry into and pursuing a career
in this field:
It is very important that you have a job prior to graduating from college.
Employers look for past work experience when hiring. A degree is a great help
for seeking a career, but experience is almost just as if not more important
than the degree.
