Brief description of my job responsibilities, e.g. a
typical week in my job:
I am in training and am leaving the warehouse after my 8th week out learning product and the recieving and shipping logistics of our company. During a week i come in to work around 6:45 am and then assist customers and fellow employees throughout the day while improving my knowledge of Ferguson and how it is run. My job changes during various days so it is never the same 2 days in a row.
Suggestions I would give to undergraduate students with
regard to courses, internships, and other means of preparation for my career
field:
Get as much experience as you can and meet as many contacts so that they may influence your career path or help you in the decision making process of finding a job and fitting in.
My career path in getting to this position:
I came to Ferguson strait out of college and started the training program. Ferguson expects hard work but also rewards employees for their efforts.
Other advice for students interested in gaining entry
into and pursuing a career in this field:
You dont have to know anything about plumbing or building homes. You will learn and progress at the rate that suits you and your branch. Work is enjoyable and the people i work with are some of my best friends. Just be willing to work hard and have good communication skills and you will succeed.
