Spring Accounting Internship Program

Student Guidelines

  • We strongly urge you to attempt to interview with several firms before accepting an internship.

  • Spring internships are targeted primarily toward public accounting. You will intern during the Spring Semester 2007.

  • In order to participate in Accounting Internship Interviews September 26-29, you must be registered with Career Services. Interviews are conducted in Career Services, 2nd floor of Dunford Hall.

  • Student Orientation sessions for accounting internship interviews are scheduled for Friday-Tuesday, August 25-29. Please see “Important Dates” sheet for times & locations. You must attend an orientation to be considered for a Spring 2007 accounting internship.

  • The “Meet the Firms” reception is from 6:00-7:30 p.m. on August 30th in the UC Ballroom & Crest Room. This is your opportunity to talk with recruiters informally and determine firms to whom you want to submit resumes. Wear appropriate business attire.

  • Please Note: To be selected for an interview you must submit your resume (through the Career Services web program) to each firm that is of interest to you. If you are selected for an interview, you are committed to take the interview.

  • To submit your resume to employers for interview consideration, select the Job search heading. Look for the choice labeled On Campus Interviews. Click on each job title for a detailed description & scroll to the bottom of the screen to Apply. The deadline is Sept. 11. For questions with the new Career Services software, Symplicity, please contact Katie Lown at ktlown@utk.edu or DeAnna Bonner at dcbonner@utk.edu

  • You must submit your resume (to EACH firm you are interested in) through Career Services' Web program no later than midnight on Monday, September 6.

  • Employers will provide Career Services with a list of students they want to interview. On September 19-21 you may sign up for an interview through Symplicity with firms that have selected you. (Note: Should you desire a “mock interview,” you need to contact Career Services to sign up for a time. The interview will be videotaped and critiqued.)

  • Should you desire a "mock interview," you need to contact Career Services to sign up for a time from September 13-24. The interview will be videotaped and critiqued.

  • When you accept an internship offer, you must inform Dr. Lee Hendrick in the Accounting Department and Ms. DeAnna Bonner in Career Services (974-5435). Questions concerning academic credit should be directed to Dr. Hendrick before you leave the campus for your internship.

  • To maintain your full-time student status during your internship, you need to contact Ms. Bonner, Career Services, 100 Dunford Hall for additional information. If you fail to do so, you will no longer be considered a full-time student at the University which may result in problems with pre-registration, housing, financial aid, etc.

Good luck in your internship search!
