Formatting Your Reference Page
- Prepare a separate page that lists the names, titles, addresses, phone numbers, and if possible email addresses of three to four professional references to provide to a prospective employer if requested.
- Be sure the people you list on your reference page know you are listing them.
- Ask for permission to send out their name and contact information as a reference.
- If you have not talked with them in awhile, be sure to contact them and reconnect.
- Send them a copy of your resume so they are familiar with your additional qualifications.
- If possible, send your references a copy of the job description if you are aware they will be contacted about a specific position.
