Part-Time Employment

Student Employment, also known as Job Location & Development (JLD) is a federally funded service. The mission of JLD is to assist students in finding jobs and to promote self-help in educational financing, as well as to encourage a sense of personal achievement and the development of positive values.

Where do I begin my search?

Step 1: Register
Your first step is to complete the "Profile" information section in the HIRE-A-VOL system. This will allow you to access part-time jobs entered into our HIRE-A-VOL database.
  • Learn how to register - note that you do not need to upload a resume in the system in order to view part-time jobs.
Step 2: Search Part-Time Jobs
After you have registered, follow these instructions to narrow your search to part-time jobs only.
  1. Once you have filled in your "Profile" information, choose the "Jobs & Internships" link within HIRE-A-VOL.
  2. On the search screen under "Jobs," click the link "See More Search Options."
  3. Choose "Part Time" as the Job Status.
  4. We recommend that you check the box labeled "Save this search criteria." You will avoid having to retype your search criteria and you can also choose to have new part-time jobs sent directly to your email address (specified in your "Profile" information).
  5. Choose Search.
  6. For position details and application instructions, click on each individual Job Title.

Step 3: Start a Resume
Start building your resume early! Learning how to create a professional resume now will save you time and effort later. When the time comes that a resume is requested by an employer, you should have a current resume ready.
