Smokey’s Closet in it’s NEW location on the 3rd floor (376C) of the Student Union (across from the Dean of Students Office) is open for the spring semester:
February 2 through April 30.

Hours will be Tuesdays 3:00-5:00pm and Fridays 11:00am-2:00pm! 

Smokey’s Closet provides free, gently used professional clothing and accessories to students at UT. Students check-in and can receive one free outfit.

 

FAQ

When is Smokey’s Closet open? Smokey’s Closet is open on Tuesdays from 3:00-5:00pm and Fridays from 11:00am-2:00pm. If those times do not work for you send an email to smokeyscloset@utk.edu with your availability and a staff member will accommodate you.

How much do the outfits cost? Nothing! The clothing is donated by the Knoxville and campus community so students can have professional clothing.

Where is Smokey’s Closet? 376C in the Student Union. The location is on the 3rd floor of the Student Union across from the Dean of Students office.

What if I’m a grad student? You’re still a student! Any student is welcome at Smokey’s Closet.

What if I don’t want other students to know I shop there? Smokey’s Closet is staffed by professionals. We definitely want you to feel comfortable.

Where can I donate clothing? We are happy to take donations of professional, contemporary clothing. Drop offs for donations will be accepted on Tuesdays between 3:00-5:00pm or Fridays between 11:00am-2:00pm. Complete the Donation Form to arrange a drop-off date and time. This way we can be sure to have a staff member available to assist you and provide directions.

Where can I donate money? Donate through our Smokey’s Closet Fund!

Who runs Smokey’s Closet? Smokey’s Closet is a partnership between Student Government Association, the Center for Career Development & Academic Exploration and the UT National Retail Student Federation Association. An SGA committee recruits volunteers to assist throughout the year.

J.C. Penney

UT is proud to have a partnership with J.C. Penney to provide students professional clothing at deep discounts! On a designated “Suit Up” time, J.C. Penney will open its store exclusively to UT students, faculty, staff, and alumni and will give a 30% coupon to be used on select professional brands! The spring event will be held online!

When is the Suit Up event? The next Suit Up event will be January 29 through February 7, 2021.To receive your Extra 30% off coupon, text UTK to 67292.

Which J.C. Penney location? The Suit Up event will be held online this year. You may pick up orders curbside or in the store if you have made those arrangements on your order.

What time is the event? The event will be held online. You may order online any time during the event dates January 29-February 7.

How do I get there? Convenient for everyone as it will be online! Go to www.jcpenney.com/m/suit-up to shop and order your items!

Is the discount on everything? The discount applies to professional brands designated by J.C. Penney. The discount does apply to existing discounts!
