In respecting COVID-19 and directives from the University of Tennessee administration, Smokey’s Closet is closed.
Smokey’s Closet provides free, gently used professional clothing and accessories to students at UT. Students check-in and can receive one free outfit.
Clothing Drive: Smokey’s Closet will accept donations year-round. Drop off new or gently used, contemporary clothing by first emailing email@example.com to schedule a time OR organize a clothing drive in your office/department.
When is Smokey’s Closet open? Smokey’s Closet is open from 12:00-4:00pm each Friday afternoon with hours resuming in the fall 2020. The Closet will be closed during the summer but you may email to schedule a time if you have a need. Check the UT Event Calendar for the full schedule of open dates each semester. If the times are not convenient, you can email firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule an appointment to visit.
How much do the outfits cost? Nothing! The clothing is donated by the Knoxville and Campus community so students can have professional clothing.
Where is Smokey’s Closet? Greve Hall Hall, Rooms G2 & G6.
What if I’m a grad student? You’re still a student! Any student is welcome at Smokey’s Closet.
What if I don’t want other students to know I shop there? Smokey’s Closet is staffed by professionals and the individual appointments are arranged with a Smokey’s Closet committee member. We definitely want you to feel comfortable.

Who runs Smokey’s Closet? Smokey’s Closet is a partnership between Student Government Association and the Center for Career Development & Academic Transitions. An SGA committee recruits volunteers to assist throughout the year. We also have partnered with the Student Disability Services office, Experience Learning, the National Retail Student Federal Association, Center for Leadership and Service, the Leadership Studies Minor, and the Knoxville Alumni Chapter.

UT is proud to have a partnership with J.C. Penney to provide students professional clothing at deep discounts! On designated “Suit Up” Sundays throughout the school year, J.C. Penney will open its store exclusively to UT students, faculty, staff, and alumni and will give a 30% coupon to be used on select professional brands!

What time is the event? 6:00pm-9:00pm
Which entrance do I use? Enter on the upper level where the balloons are. This is also the men’s department.
