VOLTreks provide an opportunity to learn about career possibilities by traveling
to organizations and exploring various industries and careers. A small group of students will have the chance to engage with professionals, tour the facility, and gain insight into the industry. Site visits will typically last for 2-4 hours.

VOLTrek: Exploring Careers in Sustainability and Environmentalism

Are you interested in a career in sustainability and/or environmentalism? This VolTrek is designed for students with an interest in exploring careers relevant to sustainability/environmentalism. There will be a panel of 3-5 seasoned sustainability/environmentalism professionals that will discuss their career journeys, will discuss a typical day on the job, provide tips for students entering the field, and so forth. As a result of attending this experiential opportunity, students will learn more about the different career paths related to sustainability and environmentalism, will get to network with peers and established professionals, and will receive a virtual tour and overview of the Office of Sustainability. This VOLTrek is a partnership between the Center for Career Development & Academic Exploration and the Haslam College of Business. Over the course of several days, students will visit with employers in various business and industry functions, including American Express. Students will also visit the NYSE and meet with local UT alumni in the Big Apple.

Over the course of two days, students will visit with several different engineering employers, including Booz Allen Hamilton, Radiance Technologies, Science & Engineering Services, and Brockwell Technologies, among others. This Trek will also include a social and reception with the Northern Alabama UT Alumni Chapter!
