Transition advising is available for students who are decided on a major but are not eligible to declare. Transition advisors can provide short-term academic advising for these students. Students assigned to a transition advisor include 1) current students who choose University Exploratory as a major because they are not eligible for their major of choice, 2) incoming transfer students admitted to UT as University Exploratory because they were denied admission into their 1st choice of major, and 3) students who are returning to UT after an absence and are readmitted as University Exploratory because they are not eligible for their major of choice.
Students who are undecided or redeciding on a major should schedule an academic & career exploration appointment, not a transition advising appointment. More information on how to schedule appointments can be found here.
Students who are eligible for their major of choice should schedule an academic advising appointment in the appropriate college advising center. Additional information about UT’s advising centers can be found here. Note: we cannot change students’ majors; this must be done in the appropriate college advising center.
Refer to the flow chart above for guidance on when it is appropriate to meet with a transition advisor. Questions? Email us at email@example.com.
